Objectives

Individual Learning Session: Working with situations and people with behaviours we find challenging

At the end of this session you will:

  • understand what types of people and situations you may find challenging
  • understand why people behave in a challenging way
  • have learnt some strategies and mechanisms for coping with people and situations you find challenging.
The learning objectives in this session link in to the following units:
  • Childrens Induction Standards:
    • 3.5 Personal safety and security:
      • b - Understand how you manage challenging behaviour
      • c - Understand how you encourage positive behaviour


  • Level 2 Health and Social Care Diploma (including Generic, Dementia and Learning Disability Pathways):
    • Group C - Optional Competence Units:
      • HSC 3045 - Promote positive behaviour


  • Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities:
    • Optional Units – Group B:
      • HSC 3045 - Promote positive behaviour
