Objectives

Group Learning Session: Pressure Ulcer Prevention

At the end of this session the candidates will:

  • Be able to explain the risk factors associated with pressure ulcers.
  • Be able to identify pressure damage.
  • Be able to explain why it is important for a person at risk of developing a pressure ulcer to keep moving and repositioning.
  • Understand the difference between a moisture lesion and a pressure ulcer.
  • Know strategies for preventing moisture lesions and pressure ulcers.
  • Know the importance of nutrition in the prevention of pressure ulcers.
  • Know the principles of treatment for moisture associated skin damage.
  • Have had the opportunity to consider any further learning and development needs in relation to the topics covered.
